Sacramental Preparation

First Communion and First Reconciliation – Sacramental Preparation Process and Schedule will be available later in the summer.

If your child is in their second year of formation and is planning to prepare for a sacrament (Reconciliation & First Communion, or Confirmation), please complete the appropriate discernment form.  There is also an ADDITIONAL FEE for Sacramental Preparation.  Please bring the completed form and fee to the Parish office by September 9th.

This form should be filled out by the parents & child after prayerful discernment.  The preparation process includes catechesis sessions for the parent and child to attend outside of the regular weekly Faith Formation classes.  The dates for these sessions were provided at the Parent Meeting in August.

Confirmation – Sacramental Preparation Process and Schedule were made available at the Parent Meetings in August.

Children’s Faith Formation: Catechist, Assistants, Substitutes & Helpers

Please consider becoming a catechist, or assistant and help our children on their faith journey.

“The catechist, then, is a Christian who is mindful of God, who is guided by the memory of God in his or her entire life and who is able to awaken that memory in the hearts of others.”- Pope Francis

Are you one of somebody’s “Five”? Are you open to making a difference in the life of a child? Studies show that while parents are the most important influence in a child’s life, every child needs 5 other adults in their lives to guide them along the way. There are many ways to do this – as a Catechist, an Assistant, a Substitute, or a Small Group Leader for our Faith Formation children.

Any adult can be a catechist, assistant catechist, or substitute. High school youth can be helpers in various capacities.   He or she must be actively living the Catholic Faith, eager to learn more about it, and willing to share it!

If you like to discern a role in Catechesis, Co-Catechesis, or Assistant, please contact: Frances Stadler at (407) 365-3231 x 105 or fstadler@oviedocatholic.org
