Parish History

Most Precious Blood Catholic Church was established by Bishop Thomas Wenski in April 2005 to serve the growing Catholic Community in Oviedo and East Seminole County. The late Pope John Paul II designated 2005 as the Year of  the Eucharist, calling upon all Catholics to honor and respect God’s gift of the Eucharist, to receive it more faithfully, and to reflect upon the meaning of the Real Presence of Christ in our lives.

Bishop Wenski chose the name of our parish in honor of the Eucharist.  At every moment of every day, Mass is being celebrated somewhere in the world. We rejoice that the name of our community, in honor of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, is prayerfully remembered at all times. Our first Mass was celebrated on April 24, 2005, the same day that Pope Benedict XVI was installed as the Pontiff of the Catholic Church.

We are incredibly blessed to have a vibrant and growing parish with over 2200 families currently registered and many new families joining us every month. With the assistance of the Diocese of Orlando Synod, we discerned the Mission of our community which continues to lead and inspire us to be disciples…

Empowered by the Eucharist,
we humbly commit ourselves
as a welcoming community
to grow in faith
and share Christ’s love
through our joyful witness
and selfless stewardship.

Our humble beginnings…

Ingrid Bryant tells about the journey to Most Precious Blood

In  the   mid 1990’s,  Dr.  Carlos    Velez, currently  a  parishioner of  Most  Precious  Blood, formed a   Hispanic   Catholic   community   called Grupo  Shalom  that  served  the  spiritual  needs  of Oviedo,  Geneva  and Chuluota    Hispanic  Catholics.

Our Sunday liturgies and Faith Formation previously took place in rented space Lawton Chiles Middle School.  With our solid and growing foundation of parishioners, we are now in our permanent home at 113 Lockwood Blvd!  Our property encompasses 60 beautiful acres (30 develop-able acres) and borders a natural forest preserve on the east side.  Our First Mass in our Parish Life Center was celebrated on Holy Thursday, April 21, 2011.  The Phase I development of our property provides the Most Precious Blood family with new and abundant opportunities to Plant Seeds of Faith for generations to come.

God our Father,
as we Plant Seeds of Faith in our community
named after the Most Precious Blood of Your Son,
we ask ourselves…

If not now, then when?
If not here, then where?
If not us, then who?
If not for the Kingdom, then why?

Send Your Holy Spirit,

…to provide wisdom as we continue to build Your Kingdom.
…to challenge us to be selfless stewards of our time, talent, and treasure.
…and to inspire us to be fully Alive in Christ each day!

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
